A five-seat, light, single-engine helicopter Bell 505 Jet Ranger X is a successor of the legendary Bell 206B3 JetRanger, the production of which ended in 2010 and a record number of more than 7,500 were sold.
From the very beginning, the 505 has been designed in close cooperation with potential customers so that its excellent performance could be combined with a competitive price. First deliveries of the Bell 505 are planned for 2016 (certification is to be obtained in 2015), however, due to the high interest of customers, first orders are accepted now.
The modern shape of the cabin ensures excellent visibility and the large cabin doors and fully flat floor provide additional comfort for four passengers (forward-facing seats) and pilot. The helicopter will be capable of travelling with speeds more than 232 km/h (at cruising altitude) and its maximum range will amount to more than 670 km. The useful load of the helicopter is 680 kg.
The 505 is being developed with a focus on the performance of various tasks, from civilian flights to special military missions to training.
The Bell 505 Jet Renger powerplant will be Turbomeca Arrius 2R with a dual-channel FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control), which will ensure easy maintenance, shorten the time necessary for monitoring powerplant operation, displaying its basic performance parameters and diagnostics. The fully integrated avionics will make it even easier to fly the helicopter.
